Day 59 ♥
These two Valencias in the photo show the possible variation in Orange size. Although both are certified Organic, there certainly is a big variation in size. The bigger 'Table' Orange is on the left and the smaller 'Syrup Ball' is to the right.
I am preferring the Syrup Balls for taste and sweetness, but the larger Oranges have still been mighty good.
And in case you are worried that my Oranges do not look 'orange', I took this photo in sepia.
Something that I read years ago has stayed with me. It was regarding a prison where the prisoners had been given a glass of Orange juice each day, in addition to their normal prison fare. Now I am not at all sure that this would have been raw, fresh juice. However, just this addition of one glass of Orange juice (and possibly pasteurized Orange juice at that) per day was found to have a very positive effect on the behaviour of the prisoners.
What really strikes me about this is that so much potential power lies within fruit; just one glass of Orange juice per day, amid all the processed jail food - and yet that glass made a vital and positive difference to the health and well-being of the inmates.
Similarly, I have a newspaper clipping, about an English primary school, where the only change made to the children's diet was that for morning break they ate only fruit. All their other meals at home and school remained the same.
The school originally brought in this trial for just one class. But they got such an improvement in behaviour and also such an increase in academic achievement in this one class that the school soon implemented the 'fruit only' morning break for the whole school.
So I see that fruit indeed has almost magical powers to help us humans who have strayed with our diet and lifestyles so far from the natural and rational way of living - so that even in the midst of a Western World full of processed and denatured diets or mass-produced prison food - fruit can still work its wonders ♥
So I am indeed very grateful to have discovered the fruit diet, and I am very grateful for all the wonderful health and joy it has brought into my life ♥
There are many people in the world, such as prisoners, and children (whose diet is largely in the hands of their carers), who have very little dietary choices and who do not have the power to pick, grow, or select their own fruit.
And this makes me very appreciative for all the dietary choices and power that I have in my life, and my ability to be able to easily choose and obtain great quality fruit.

Dear Anne. . . Beautiful post! I think of these things constantly, as well. And I remember clearly the frustration and powerless feeling as a child in regard to my food, especially. I knew it was all wrong. Your children are so blessed! And so are we, as adults. Somehow we made it through the muddle. ♥
Dear Julie ♥
Thank you ♥
I feel that children often have very clear instincts as regards food choices, which they do not always have the power to able follow.
I appreciate that diet is not the only factor for childhood happiness, but,I feel, it to certainly be very important.
Love and fruity thoughts ♥

Hi Anne,
I would love to have the reference to that article so that I can copy it and give it to my children's school.
Thanks,

The article is from the English newspaper 'The Times' and appeared on 20th May 1999.

Dear Darrick ♥
thank you for your comment ♥
Cappi reckons the Mulberries were pretty good. They are not in season at the moment; these are organic frozen ones from the lady who grows them.
Good to hear you got some really great Lychees. This year seems to be is a good year for Lychees; and Longans should not be too far behind ♥
Enjoy the bounty,
Love and Peaches XX.
