♥ Day 80 Mono Orange Juice ♥

♥ Happy St. Valentine's Day ♥
♥ All Hail St. Valentine ♥

♥ Thank you to Cheetah, for the Beautiful Picture ♥

To all the Orange Lovers, as well as the Sweetheart Lovers out there, I thought on Day 80 of my Orange Juice Train ride, I would share a few little Orange snippets with you.
                             ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

~ Elizabeth Cromwell, wife of Oliver, gave her husband a hard time for quarrelling with the Spanish, because it sent the price of Oranges up to four pence each (quite a fortune in 1664).

~ Cardinal Wolsey used to carry Orange peel next to his nose  when riding on his mule to Westminster Hall, to offset the not-so-savoury smells of Tudor London.

~ Dr. Samuel Johnson used to save the Orange peel, of Oranges he had eaten, and carry it in his pocket.

~Samuel Pepys mentioned in his diaries that a trip to the theatre with his wife and friends, in the 17th century, ended up costing him eight shillings for Oranges (as Pepys stated that Oranges cost sixpence each, that was 16 Oranges for the group!)

~ The Orange was first known in England as long ago as 1290.

~ At the beginning of the 17th century, Sir James Lancaster, of the East India Company, forced all his captains to carry Oranges for the health of their crew.

~ P.E. Norris, in his book, 'About Fruit, Vegetables and Salad', says that: "Most people class citrus fruit as "blood cleansers", but few know that citrus fruits are even more important in COLD weather than warm, and more valuable for those who do hard manual labour than those who sit all day at desks, for citrus fruit conains something—whether citrus acid or vitamin C, we are not quite sure—which enable the muscles to function effectively. Without it they tire quickly."

~ Confucius was quoted as saying: " A Day without Orange Juice is like a day without Sunshine."

♥ Day78 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 78 ♥
Now as you might expect, during this 78 days on Orange Juice my body shape has altered a bit.
I feel no less energy and endurance despite the loss in weight.
And I am pleased to find that I am really liking my body. Sure it may be a little lean for some people's tastes, but it certainly feels very efficient, as if it is working really well and with no extra body fat or fluid to hamper its movements and inner workings.
And I very much appreciate this feeling of efficiency in my body.
I feel very fluid and lose and I like the way my body looks.
One aspect is I feel very feminine still and I am still having my female cycle, but my body does not look as typically 'womanly', not so many curves for me at the moment!
But as I was watering the fruit trees this evening, I just felt a sense of being very happy with my body shape and very grateful to have been able to experience this change in my physical body that has come with the Orange juice diet.

Some thoughts I had as to why exercise could be more effortless on my Orange juice diet are that my limbs weigh less, and also that my muscles are less tense and my joints have an improved range of movement.

I think that the more comfortable and happy we feel about our bodies when we are fasting or juice dieting, then the less other people's concern's or views will affect us.
Because others may not have fasted before, and because our body's appearance may be very different from their own, it may be challenging for some folk to comprehend the leaner stage that we are going through.
Also, if our bodies feel good and are working well, then this is a strong sign to me that whilst the body weight is certainly lower, the functioning of the body is effective; and hence the body is getting its needs met.

When I prematurely ended my  52 day Orange juice diet, in 1995, it was because I was paying more attention to the concerns of others, rather than listening to my own body and its needs.
I only want to disembark from this Orange Juice Train when I have reached the right stop for me

Toot Toot!

♥ Day 75 Mono Orange Juice ♥

♥ Day 75 ♥
I believe that Mother Nature is an orderly soul; she keeps a tidy house and garden. And if we have respect for her laws and the laws of Natural Hygiene, which seem very congruent with her own maxims, then I believe we can achieve a certain flow in our lives.
This flow may also be known as synchronicity; whereby events in our lives seem linked and very relevant to each other. And special 'co-incidences' occur which enhance and bring joy into our lives.
I find that a fruit diet, comprised of mostly sweet juicy fruit, brings a beautiful flow and harmony into my life. This seems even more enhanced when I am on a mono diet.
All the most beautiful moments of synchronicity in my life seem to have occurred during mono diets.

I find Natural Hygiene and Mother Nature both very logical and rational. One reason that I am greatly attracted to the writing of Arnold Ehret because I find his words and ideas to have this same ring of truth and rationality.
A raw diet, for me, has to make sense on every level.
There is always the unknown in life, that we ever strive to fathom, but the basis of my life on a fruit or mono diet seems very rational and easy to understand.

It seems to me that the truth, including dietary truths need to be simple and easy to understand; they need to make sense at a very basic level.
Mother Nature's laws are not complex, the animals who live in harmony with her do not need a manual or detailed instructions to survive. Some of them may need a parent's care for a time in their lives but after this time they live by natural and simple instinct.

So I feel that one reason why things in my life seem to flow when on a mono diet, is that I am in a certain level of harmony with the Natural Laws, and so flow and synchronicity are part and parcel of this natural state of living a Hygienic lifestyle.
Sometimes because synchronicity seems 'strange' or unusual; something we are not so used to having in our lives, we may try to close ourselves to it, or not accept it into our lives, but I find that if I have faith and I open myself up to synchronicity then it flows ever more strongly.

There are so many connections on all levels in our Universe that we may have no comprehension of or find difficult to understand; therefore, the fruity journey is definitely a bit of an adventure— often into uncharted territory.

♥ Day 74 Syrup Balls from Heaven ♥

Day 74 ♥
My oh my today was a corker !
There is one little wholefood store on the Sunshine Coast that has the smallest, the sweetest, the most syrupy of all the Syrup Balls.
And today was the day to visit that store.
I had already had my usual three meals of juice, when we returned home with bags of sweet Syrup Balls
(For those of you who have not been following this Orange Juice Train, Syrup balls are particularly small and sweet Late Season Valencias. Less than half the size of a standard Valencia, they tend to get left behind on the shelf. A kind of Cinderella Orange, deceptively clothed in not the glitziest of skin—but pure sweet beauty beneath the cinders).
So whilst the Syrup Balls are often left 'on the shelf' by those who opt for 'Bigger is Better', this little Orangeophile is one gal who really appreciates them.
So when we arrived home, I couldn't wait to taste their sweetness, and then I did not want to stop my Syrup Ball Feast. And because I juice each one individually with a spoon, the feast lasted a nice amount of time. And I just felt so good and happy and warm afterwards.
Pure Golden Nectar ♥

I am finding that the last week my appetite for Orange juice has increased.
And I think that after a stage of elimination, then there may be a stage of assimilation. So it may be that after doing some deeper elimination, my body now is in more of an assimilation stage, and there is a need for a greater quantity of juice.
I am listening to my body on this mono diet, and the needs it has and I am trying to go with the flow as it were.
That is one reason why I did not finish the mono diet, as I had intended to on day 60.
There was a need to continue.
And now I really am taking it day-to-day.
I could finish tomorrow, or I could not. It is open-ended when it will end ♥

I really appreciate all the lovely positive comments and support I have had here ♥
I am very grateful and wish to thank you all for your companionship during this Orange Juice train ride.
It has been one of the best journeys of my life, and a great deal of fun too ♥

♥ Day 67 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 67 ♥
Summertime...and the Oranges are sweeties ♥
I find myself at about the same weight as when I was at Day 26 of an Orange juice diet back in June 2007. So although at the moment, I have been on Orange juice for 41 more days, I have lost about the same total weight.
I also felt ready to end the juice diet in 2007, after 26 days, whereas at the moment I am just taking it day-to-day, and I am not sure how long I will continue.
One factor would be if I felt weak or lacked the strength and endurance to carry out my daily activities. Another, is if I feel that I am going into 'starvation' mode, whereby my body would be utilising vital muscle tissue.
So, I continue and I am still really attracted to Oranges and their sweet juice.
There is no other juicy fruit that I would prefer at the moment, if I was given a choice ♥

Here are some names for the Orange in other languages apart from English:

Italian — Arancia
Spanish — Naranja
Portuguese — Laranja
Danish/ Norwegian — Appelsin
Swedish/Russian — Apelsin
Polish — Pomarancza
Serbo-Croat —Naranca
Bulgarian — Portokal
Greek — Portokali
Persian — Porteghal
Hebrew — Tapuz
Hindi — Narangi
Bengali — Kamala Lebu
Kashmiri — Sangta
Indonesian — Jeruk
Filipino — Dalanda
Chinese — Tian Cheng
Japanese — Orenji

So, from its probable origin in China  the Orange has travelled the globe. It would have been a good traveller in the days of sea voyages and so spread across the world with the Romans, Spanish and Arabs. The Portuguese influence in spreading the Orange can still be seen in its Bulgarian and Greek names.
So, because of the Orange's common availabilty it can be loved and  enjoyed from Australia to Zaire ♥

♥ Day 59 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 59 ♥
These two Valencias in the photo show the possible variation in Orange size. Although both are certified Organic, there certainly is a big variation in size. The bigger 'Table' Orange is on the left and the smaller 'Syrup Ball' is to the right.
I am preferring the Syrup Balls for taste and sweetness, but the larger Oranges have still been mighty good.
And in case you are worried that my Oranges do not look 'orange', I took this photo in sepia.

Something that I read years ago has stayed with me. It was regarding a prison where the prisoners had been given a glass of Orange juice each day, in addition to their normal prison fare. Now I am not at all sure that this would have been raw, fresh juice. However, just this addition of one glass of Orange juice (and possibly pasteurized Orange juice at that) per day was found to have a very positive effect on the behaviour of the prisoners.
What really strikes me about this is that so much potential power lies within fruit; just one glass of Orange juice per day, amid all the processed jail food - and yet that glass made a vital and positive difference to the health and well-being of the inmates.

Similarly, I have a newspaper clipping, about an English primary school, where the only change made to the children's diet was that for morning break they ate only fruit. All their other meals at home and school remained the same.
The school originally brought in this trial for just one class. But they got such an improvement in behaviour and also such an increase in academic achievement in this one class that the school soon implemented the 'fruit only' morning break for the whole school.

So I see that fruit indeed has almost magical powers to help us humans who have strayed with our diet and lifestyles so far from the natural and rational way of living - so that even in the midst of a Western World full of processed and denatured diets or mass-produced prison food - fruit can still work its wonders ♥

So I am indeed very grateful to have discovered the fruit diet, and I am very grateful for all the wonderful health and joy it has brought into my life ♥
There are many people in the world, such as prisoners, and children (whose diet is largely in the hands of their carers), who have very little dietary choices and who do not have the power to pick, grow, or select their own fruit.
And this makes me very appreciative for all the dietary choices and power that I have in my life, and my ability to be able to easily choose and obtain great quality fruit.
                                  ♥ Thank You ♥

Day 56 ♥ Mono Orange Juice Diet ♥

Day 56 ♥
Today I was running low on Organic Oranges, so I thought I would take a walk to the next small town along from us on the railway line to get a few more. I am getting a big Organic Orange delivery tomorrow, but then a girl can never have too many Organic Oranges in her larder!

It is a great walk, off the main road and through the Pineapple fields, which are at this moment full of baby Pineapples ripening up in the Summer sunshine. I was on my journey back when I heard a loud noise and there not far behind me in the middle of the field was a large crop sprayer! Yikes!
So I went at a fast pace, trying not to bump my precious cargo of Oranges, and just managing to stay ahead of the monster machine with its big arm stretching out across the field.

But it did make me think of all that is unseen. Suppose I had come along half an hour later, all the baby Pineapples looking fine and dandy in the morning sunshine, but they have just been sprayed with some toxic chemical - how would I know!?
When I am out walking, I often see council employees spraying the footpath for weeds, or people spraying their gardens, this is all the seen. But how often have I walked across a park that has only just been treated with chemicals - and simply not known it.

The chemicals used on our fields, parks, and foods are invisable for the most part to our naked eyes. But they are there. Unseen yes, but not unfelt.
Because of all the toxins that I have no personal control over, then I desire to be as chemical free in the areas of my own personal choice, such as food, household cleaners, my garden, and the fruit trees and bushes in my garden.

Closing my eyes will not make the chemicals go away, looking for only the visable toxins will not make the invisable ones disappear, but every small personal choice that I make for a chemical-free lifestyle will unite with all the other chemical-free choices being made all over the world, to help create a more beautiful environment. ♥
Sometimes the enormity of a situation can seen daunting, but I do believe that it is all the little actions adding up together that can make all the difference ♥

♥ Day 54 Mono Orange Juice & a Juice With Elvis Parsley.

Day 54 ♥
Quite an auspicious number for me. 108 is a significant number in India, many Mango orchards were planted with 108 trees. So any division of this number also holds a bit of magic for me. Therefore, I was very happy to reach Day 54 ♥
And a little bit more delight on this day was to get a delicious Orange juice from Elvis Parsley.
Elvis Parsley is the delightful owner of a lovely fruit shop in Woodford, South East Queensland.
As can be seen from the above photo, Elvis has named his shop Grapelands!
His store is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Woodford is famous for the annual folk festival held there between Christmas and New Year.
So if you are ever in this small town, then go and get some beautiful fruit from Elvis Parsley.
Elvis will even serenade you as you fruit shop, if you ask nicely.

Here he is with Bob Hawke, former Australian Prime Minister.

Anyhow I got a wonderful Orange juice in the lovely town of Woodford, served by the wonderful Elvis Parsley.
Life is pretty good ♥
And the fantastic name for the fresh juicebar in Elvis's shop is: Return To Slender !!
If you want to visit Elvis, his address is Grapelands, 87, Archer Street, Woodford, Queensland 4514.

Day 53 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 53 ♥
The weather here in South East Queensland has still been very conducive to a mono juice diet. The temperatures have been high, averaging about 32 degrees Centigrade/90 degrees Fahrenheit, and I have been really enjoying the heat and loving the early morning sun warming up my Oranges.
I have been juicing Oranges from a variety of sources, and it is nice to have a little variety. I have another order arriving on Friday, and I am thinking of ringing them up and asking for all of their littlest Valencias (which tend to be the real syrupy juice balls).
I am continuing to enjoy Dick Gregory's book, 'Natural Diet for Folks Who Eat: Cookin' With Mother Nature'.
Gregory has lived on fruit and veg juice (no solid food) for one and a half years at the time he was writing the book (1971) in protest of the Vietnam War. Apparently at the time he was well known for his water fasting and his juice diets. Dick Gregory was a very popular comedian, so I believe that  his dietary actions were pretty newsworthy.
It would be great if one of our present day entertainers followed Gregory's lead and brought a good example of awareness of diet and Natural Hygiene into the world of celebrity news.

I feel that I have been eliminating a bit today, I had more coating on my tongue than usual and my body felt like having more of a restful day; I did not feel tired or weak but just not drawn to do my usual workout. However, my skin is nice and clear.

The Oranges continue to be excellent in taste and ripeness ♥
For which I am very grateful ♥

Fruity Fare ♥
Morning—10 syrup balls, and 1 large Valencia, all juiced in my mouth

♥ Day 52 ♥ Mono Orange Juice

Day 52 ♥
Today was kind of a special day for me because I reached the 52 day mark, which is the longest that I have previously gone, in this lifetime, on Orange juice.
I did a 52 day Orange juice diet back in 1995. It was a great experience and really helped to pave the way for me on a fruit diet. I found that after this 1995 Orange juice diet, I was better able to assimilate my fruit and I seemed to get more value from fruit —I just felt that the fruit I ate was doing me so much more good.
I ended my first 52 Orange juice diet, not because I felt ready to stop but because my friends and family were concerned about how much weight I had lost. Me, myself, I felt stronger than usual and had plenty of energy, but I was 28lbs less than my normal weight. This time around I am about 14lbs less than my 'normal' weight.
So that is an interesting difference. I am seeming to lose less weight each time I do an extended mono Orange juice diet.
Yesterday,I was looking at my 'Orange Juice Diaries' on my website
and I have lost less weight this time than I did on a 26 mono Orange juice diet two and a half years ago in May 2007.

However, I do think that weight loss is a factor to take into account in mono Orange juice diets. I am feeling now that I am getting to the stage where I look pretty thin. I feel great and feel strong and energetic—more so than on a mixed fruit diet — but I can appreciate that I might not look so strong!

I am just loving the Syrup Ball Oranges, they are so wee, but so packed with flavour.
I desire and enjoy them so much. And I do not feel the need or desire for any other fruits when I have them by my side ♥

I am also really enjoying dancing and exercising ♥

Fruity Fare ♥

Day 51 Mono Orange Juice

Day 51 ♥
Today I went to a couple of local markets; one had good live music, the other good Oranges - so I was pretty happy.
Cappi got an all-fruit ice-cream from the Eumundi markets.
There is a guy there with a stall called 'Pulp Addiction' and he sells frozen fruit put through a Champion juicer. Cappi gets a large tub with Mango, Banana, and Pineapple, so he was a happy chappie too.
I found some small nicely ripe Biodynamic Valencias.
I was carrying two big bags of them when one of my bags split and there were little syrup balls rolling all around the pavement; some kind souls stopped to help me retrieve them before they rolled away into the road.

My tongue seems to be getting less coated, and my skin has gone nice and clear. A while back I was getting some elimination through the skin. I have found, however, that if I deep breath when I am getting elimination through the skin, the deep breathing helps to clear the skin.
I think because toxins are then being released more via the breathing and less through the skin. Also the extra oxygen is great for skin health, and helps speed up any elimination.

The sunshine has also been wonderful here at the moment; a great aide to elimination, skin health, and feeling wonderful.
