♥The End of The Juice Diet.♥

So, I broke the Orange juice diet today on four fresh ripe Dates spread out over about one hour - and they tasted delicious.
I am still doing some deep level elimination which is quite an experience in itself. And despite eliminating from my eyes, the whites of my eyes have never looked whiter. Also my skin is totally clear.
So I have at least two nice side-effects from all the elimination.
Later in the day I had about 50gms/1.76oz of Organic Watermelon.
I am trying to take the re-introduction of other fruit gently.
I also drank lots of water today, to help to flush my body out.

And I just wanted to say  Thank You again to everyone who has followed my blog and given me support whilst I was on my Juice Diet.♥
I an eternally grateful that I was able to carry it out in such a wonderful way ♥
I think I will still post here if I find out some amazing Orange facts, and I certainly will the next time that I go on an Orange juice diet.

So Many Thanks for all your wonderful support and great comments.
Wishing you Beautiful Days ♥

♥ Day 84 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 84 ♥
Because I was going through some elimination: mucus from the nose and eyes, feeling very tired, and having a headache, I had no desire to take any food today, so I water fasted for 42 hours.
I was fortunate to be able to rest today, Cappi was wonderful and let me spend time relaxing, so I really appreciate his consideration.
So I will take Orange juice tomorrow morning, and depending on how I feel, either have another Orange juice day, or break the Orange juice diet.
This tiredness is very unusual to me and it does make me appreciate my normal high energy levels.
I do have faith in my body though, and I feel that it is really removing some deep stored toxins .

♥ Day 83 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 83 ♥
Today, was interesting, I seemed to go into some deeper stage of elimination, I felt weak for the first time in ages, and I had some elimination in the corner of my eyes, and a little mucus from my nose.
So I will see how I feel tomorrow, and maybe it is time to finish the juice diet.
As an added incentive, the box of Fresh Barhi Dates arrived today, and they look very good, and are just a a few days off ripening.
My father and his friend are also flying out from England to spend time with us next week, and so it will not be best time in my life for taking  rest if I need to, as we will be travelling around the Sunshine Coast. It will be wonderful to spend time with him ♥
So I will water fast tomorrow to help things along their way, and then make a decision maybe the day after.

I have had the most wonderful experience on my juice diet, and before today, had no real feeling of when it may end.
I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to undertake such a wonderful juice diet.
And I am so grateful to all The Organic Orange Trees, and The Organic Growers, The Organic Fruit Pickers, and The Organic Distributers that have combined in their sweet efforts to bring the Oranges to my door.

♥ Day 82 Mono Orange Juice ♥

      ♥ The  Orange - Superhero? ♥

Day 82 ♥
So whilst Spiderman might be useful to have around if the Green Goblin is giving you grief in New York, and Batman is a pretty worthy Superhero, especially if he gets his Superpowers from being a FruitBatman; my personal choice of Superhero is - The Orange.
I guess I may be a bit biased at the moment, and it is true that under normal circumstances I am hardly monogamous with my fruit (having a bit of a roving eye for Mangoes and Malaysian Durians) but after such a long time being faithful to one fruit, it would take some doing to knock The Orange off his pedestal.

Orange juice is, 'One of Nature's miracle foods', according to The Science of Life books; and the Orange (as mentioned in a previous post) is 'The King of Fruits' according to Dr. Wilcox.
And indeed who wouldn't be seduced by a glass of golden just-squeezed Organic Orange juice from perfectly tree-ripe fruits.

One person who was keen to get his own Oranges was the French King Francois I, who deeply desired the first Orange tree that arrived in France. The tree had travelled from Pamplona in Spain and was planted in the garden of Le Duc de Bourbon.
When Le Duc ran off to Northern Italy to join Francois's adversary, Charles V, the  very first thing that Francois did was to sieze the Orange tree.
The coverted tree was then planted in Versailles where, obviously much loved, it flourished for many, many years.

So whilst some Superheroes may rescue mere mortals from peril, by swinging from webs or by racing around in Batmobiles; the Orange does its rescuing, like the other juicy fruits, by helping our bodies to heal and rebalance, and by providing a Superfuel whilst we cleanse.

I believe that sweet, juicy fruit has an enormous potential within it to amazingly affect the quality of our lives.
Fruits, I feel, are the Superheroes of Mother Nature, who gives these champions to humans as a perfect food.

Life is meant to be Suberb, not sub-standard, and aided by with a beautiful diet of juicy fruits, then I believe that anybody has the potential to reach for a Super Sweet Life ♥

Fruity Fare ♥

♥ Day 81 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 81 ♥
Because of all the heat and recent rain we have been experiencing here in South East Queensland, there has been a big growth in the Mosquito population.
When I am out gardening or watering, I find that I am soon covered with hungry Mosquitos, even in the sunshine in the middle of the day.
My experience with Mosquitos has been an evolving one since I began my raw journey.
Growing up in Temperate England, I never really was exposed to Mosquitos, or their desire for human blood.
I was first introduced to them, for any great length of time, at the beginning of my raw journey when I spent time in the Algarve region of Portugal; living  off some great local fruit, during the Northern Hemisphere's Winter.
I got bitten many times, and I found that my body would react quite strongly to the bite, and there would be swelling and itching for about four days.
As I progressed along the fruity path, I found that my reaction to insect bites in general, including Mosquito bites, really lessened.
There would be less swelling at the bite area, and less itching.
Before I started my current Orange Juice Diet, I found that initially upon being bitten by a Mosquito, I would have a very tiny amount of swelling and I would itch for up to 30 minutes; after this time both the swelling and itching would have disappeared - this was very different from the reactions I was getting at the beginning of my raw journey.

However, it interested me to find that despite being covered by hungry Mosquitos recently, I have had no itching, swelling, or any reaction at all to their bites.
So I was thinking that this Orange Juice Diet must have helped my body to deal even more effectively with Mosquito bites. Then in the evening I read this in Julie Stafford's book 'Juicing For Health':

"Bioflavonoids...have a strengthening effect in the capillary walls, and act as an anticoagulant and antihistamine."

So I was wondering if the antihistamine effect of Bioflavonoids, which are very high in Oranges, is one reson why I am not reacting at all to the Mosquito bites.
I have also noticed that since being on this Orange Juice Diet, I have very rarely sneezed or had any reation to dust or mould.
I sometimes get a bit sneezy, if I am exposed to a musty environment or to dust.

Other useful snippets I read last night, regarding Orange juice and its constituents, include this quote, also from Julie Stafford's book:

"Bioflavonoids maintain the walls of the small blood vessels; help combat odema, dropsy, diabetes and diseases of the joints; assist in arresting haemorrhages; aid the treatment of high blood pressure and cataracts; fight infectious bacteria, viruses and fungi, and assist in ridding the body of drugs, heavy metals and car exhaust fumes."

And more from Julie Stafford:

"It (Orange juice) cleanses and tones the gastro-intestinal tract and improves the permeability and strength of the capillary walls...and is helpful in treating asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, blood disorders, anaemia, scurvy, heart disease, high blood pressure, indigestion, liver disorders, lung disorders, pneumonia and skin disorders and can aid weight loss. Orange juice is also an excellent source of calcium and phosphorus. It assists in the formation of bones and teeth and prevents rickets."

Stafford's sentiments are echoed in C.E. Clinkard's book, 'The Use of Juices':

"The juice of the orange is one of the most palatable natural juices in existance and it is also one of the most beneficial. Its value is widely recognised nowadays and its advantages for babies and growing children have been clearly established, especially on account of its power to assist in bone and teeth formation and in preventing rickets. it is an excellent source of calcium and phosphorus"

And from 'About Juices' by John B. Lust:

"The orange is one of nature's finest gifts to man. Orange juice contains pre-digested food in a most delicious and attractive form, ready for immediate absorbtion and utilization. Even full milk is not superior to orange juice in nutritive value as some might expect."

And both John B. Lust, and Vivienne Lewis, in her book 'Raw Juices For Health', say that Orange juice is very beneficial for those suffering with Rheumatoid Arthritis, because people affected by this condition have very fragile capillaries, which are aided by the bioflavonoids in Oranges and their juice.

♥ So All Hail the Mighty Orange ♥
I certainly am very grateful for all the Golden Wonder it has brought into my life ♥

♥ Day 80 Mono Orange Juice ♥

♥ Happy St. Valentine's Day ♥
♥ All Hail St. Valentine ♥

♥ Thank you to Cheetah, for the Beautiful Picture ♥

To all the Orange Lovers, as well as the Sweetheart Lovers out there, I thought on Day 80 of my Orange Juice Train ride, I would share a few little Orange snippets with you.
                             ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

~ Elizabeth Cromwell, wife of Oliver, gave her husband a hard time for quarrelling with the Spanish, because it sent the price of Oranges up to four pence each (quite a fortune in 1664).

~ Cardinal Wolsey used to carry Orange peel next to his nose  when riding on his mule to Westminster Hall, to offset the not-so-savoury smells of Tudor London.

~ Dr. Samuel Johnson used to save the Orange peel, of Oranges he had eaten, and carry it in his pocket.

~Samuel Pepys mentioned in his diaries that a trip to the theatre with his wife and friends, in the 17th century, ended up costing him eight shillings for Oranges (as Pepys stated that Oranges cost sixpence each, that was 16 Oranges for the group!)

~ The Orange was first known in England as long ago as 1290.

~ At the beginning of the 17th century, Sir James Lancaster, of the East India Company, forced all his captains to carry Oranges for the health of their crew.

~ P.E. Norris, in his book, 'About Fruit, Vegetables and Salad', says that: "Most people class citrus fruit as "blood cleansers", but few know that citrus fruits are even more important in COLD weather than warm, and more valuable for those who do hard manual labour than those who sit all day at desks, for citrus fruit conains something—whether citrus acid or vitamin C, we are not quite sure—which enable the muscles to function effectively. Without it they tire quickly."

~ Confucius was quoted as saying: " A Day without Orange Juice is like a day without Sunshine."

♥ Day 79 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 79♥
today, I was thinking about consequences and choices.
For those of us who live in the Western World, we probably have more wide-ranging food choices than ever before. Whilst the Supermarkets are ever trying to reduce the varieties of fruit and dumb down fruit selection, the overall food choices in any one Supermarket is something that I often find staggering.
Higher disposable incomes, freezing, refridgeration, canning, air flights, road infrastructure, and shippping, all combine to bring permanent seasons and continents into our Supermarkets.
Also, the huge amount of processed foods and frozen foods, canned food and dehydrated foods mean that fresh is not an  important critera for most of the food stocked in grocery stores.

And so we have a massive choice of all kinds of foods from all over the world all year round.
Even just 50 years ago, food was so much more seasonal; but as cheaper air freight was made possible, and also huge juggernauts took to the road, suddenly the food seasons were not so clearly defined.
As well as most of us having the opportunity to eat out of season foods, the type and variety of foods seems to be ever increasing as food companies are constantly looking for new market opportunities.
But, I feel, whatever dietary we chose there are consequences that ultimately we are responsible for.

For me personally, my ultimate diet would be all local, foraged or home grown fruit, grown without chemicals or animal by-products, and grown in such a way that allowed for sharing with other creatures. So no killing or trapping of animals who also wanted to share the fruit.
When I buy fruit from a farmer I do not know, then I have to face the fact that he or she may put up barbed wire to kill Fruitbats, or they may kill so called 'pests'.
Also, the transportation of fruit will have an negative impact on our environment.

But as we do not all live in Edenic fruit gardens, then I feel that we have to make the most appropriate choice we can, and accept that there may be compromises in the way our food was grown or transported.

By planting fruit trees and spreading fruit seeds, then I think I can help to rebalance a little bit the harm my diet may cause to the Planet.
In the end, life is all about balance and, I feel, making the most optimal choices that we can, given our present circumstances.
So whilst some of my food choices may not be my ideal, I hope to strive for making the best choice I could at the time, whilst still being aware of the consequences of my diet.

And I also feel that it is important to be very thankful to all the trees, the tree planters, the growers, the pickers, the sellers and the drivers and pilots who make my life so enjoyable and healthy because they combine to bring me beautiful fruit ♥
And I have been very fortunate that they have brought  me so many Wonderful Oranges over the past 79 days ♥
                                      ♥ Thank You ♥

♥ Day78 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 78 ♥
Now as you might expect, during this 78 days on Orange Juice my body shape has altered a bit.
I feel no less energy and endurance despite the loss in weight.
And I am pleased to find that I am really liking my body. Sure it may be a little lean for some people's tastes, but it certainly feels very efficient, as if it is working really well and with no extra body fat or fluid to hamper its movements and inner workings.
And I very much appreciate this feeling of efficiency in my body.
I feel very fluid and lose and I like the way my body looks.
One aspect is I feel very feminine still and I am still having my female cycle, but my body does not look as typically 'womanly', not so many curves for me at the moment!
But as I was watering the fruit trees this evening, I just felt a sense of being very happy with my body shape and very grateful to have been able to experience this change in my physical body that has come with the Orange juice diet.

Some thoughts I had as to why exercise could be more effortless on my Orange juice diet are that my limbs weigh less, and also that my muscles are less tense and my joints have an improved range of movement.

I think that the more comfortable and happy we feel about our bodies when we are fasting or juice dieting, then the less other people's concern's or views will affect us.
Because others may not have fasted before, and because our body's appearance may be very different from their own, it may be challenging for some folk to comprehend the leaner stage that we are going through.
Also, if our bodies feel good and are working well, then this is a strong sign to me that whilst the body weight is certainly lower, the functioning of the body is effective; and hence the body is getting its needs met.

When I prematurely ended my  52 day Orange juice diet, in 1995, it was because I was paying more attention to the concerns of others, rather than listening to my own body and its needs.
I only want to disembark from this Orange Juice Train when I have reached the right stop for me

♥ Day 77 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 77 ♥
Now the funny thing is that when I went to bed last night (and yes, Jack did sleep in the bedroom too) I was so convinced that when I woke up it would be Jack for Breakfast.
But when I awoke...
...all I wanted was Orange Juice.
Certainly I could appreciate the beautiful sight (and smell) of Jack; fully tree-ripened and just in a perfect state to eat, but my desire was for Orange juice. And so here I am Day 77, and still merrily travelling along on the Orange Juice Train.

Cappi devoured the Jackfruit. He  Loves it, goes Jackfruit crazy.
But I sat beside him with my spoon and devoured my Orange juice.
I Love it still, and each Orange still has the capacity to surprise me with its own unique and individual flavour.
The Orange peel compost heap at the bottom of the garden has taken on the appearance of a strange Oange edifice, a large pyramid of peel and pith that pays homage to the Citrus Clan of the Orange juicers , and at the same time feeds a massive population of small black beetles.

With this stage seemingly of assimilation, and taking more Orange juice, my weight seems to have stabalised, and I have not lost any for the past few days.
My body fat is still around 5% and muscle mass is pretty similar to when I started out. These results are taken from my Tanita Body Moniter, and I have no way of knowing their true accuracy, but they do seem to be congruent with the way my body looks and feels.

♥ Day 76 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 76 ♥
Today was the meeting of our local Fruit Club,  the Sub-Tropical Fruit Club of Queensland.
I Love Fruit Club. Not only are an amazing bunch of fruit-loving, fruit-growers gathered together, but there is a raffle for baby fruit trees and a huge fruit supper, as well as a guest speaker.

Tonight's speaker was a very interesting guy, Bruce Ham, who talked all about the relevance of geology to fruit-growing. Something I had not given much thought to before, so I learnt a lot. Bruce talked about how the underlying rock formation of an area affects which minerals the soil has, and which it may be lacking, and also which rocks give the best soil conditions. Bruce also talked about which minerals to addd to which soils from an organic grower's viewpoint
So Thank You very much Bruce for some interesting and important information

I kind of knew that there would be no Oranges for me at the fruit supper, because Citrus is not in season here, so I juiced-up before I went out.
The lovely home-grown fruit on offer included: Purple Finger Limes, Jackfruit, Purple and White Dragon Fruit (Pitaya), Mangoes, Peaches, Lychees, Longans, Guava, and Hoshi Gaki-style dried Persimmon.

Earlier in the evening, before supper, I was sitting in my chair when the president of the club, George, presented me with a Beautiful Jackfruit, fresh picked that evening and fully ripe, straight from his tree.
Thank You George ♥
It smelt so good. I think the best fruity smell, I have smelt since starting my Orange juice diet.
Jack needs to be eaten tomorrrow due to his perfect ripeness.
So I may stop my Orange Juice and have it for breakfast—or I may not.
Wild horses could not drag Cappi away from having it for his breakfast. He Loves Jackfruit with a passion. And he spent suppertime at the Club eating from a large platter of Jackfruit (another one of George's). So If I do break my diet, it will be a great way to go, on such a Beautiful gift ♥

Cappi got a lovely-sized Asher's Special Sapotaceae tree from the raffle and I got a beautiful Black Sapote baby tree.
So all-in-all it was a very wonderful evening ♥

I really feel that Fruit Clubs are a fantastic way to connect fruit eaters with those who grow and have much knowledge and passion about fruit.
Us fruit eaters need great fruit and these guys grow the Best ♥ They are Champs ♥

♥ Day 75 Mono Orange Juice ♥

♥ Day 75 ♥
I believe that Mother Nature is an orderly soul; she keeps a tidy house and garden. And if we have respect for her laws and the laws of Natural Hygiene, which seem very congruent with her own maxims, then I believe we can achieve a certain flow in our lives.
This flow may also be known as synchronicity; whereby events in our lives seem linked and very relevant to each other. And special 'co-incidences' occur which enhance and bring joy into our lives.
I find that a fruit diet, comprised of mostly sweet juicy fruit, brings a beautiful flow and harmony into my life. This seems even more enhanced when I am on a mono diet.
All the most beautiful moments of synchronicity in my life seem to have occurred during mono diets.

I find Natural Hygiene and Mother Nature both very logical and rational. One reason that I am greatly attracted to the writing of Arnold Ehret because I find his words and ideas to have this same ring of truth and rationality.
A raw diet, for me, has to make sense on every level.
There is always the unknown in life, that we ever strive to fathom, but the basis of my life on a fruit or mono diet seems very rational and easy to understand.

It seems to me that the truth, including dietary truths need to be simple and easy to understand; they need to make sense at a very basic level.
Mother Nature's laws are not complex, the animals who live in harmony with her do not need a manual or detailed instructions to survive. Some of them may need a parent's care for a time in their lives but after this time they live by natural and simple instinct.

So I feel that one reason why things in my life seem to flow when on a mono diet, is that I am in a certain level of harmony with the Natural Laws, and so flow and synchronicity are part and parcel of this natural state of living a Hygienic lifestyle.
Sometimes because synchronicity seems 'strange' or unusual; something we are not so used to having in our lives, we may try to close ourselves to it, or not accept it into our lives, but I find that if I have faith and I open myself up to synchronicity then it flows ever more strongly.

There are so many connections on all levels in our Universe that we may have no comprehension of or find difficult to understand; therefore, the fruity journey is definitely a bit of an adventure— often into uncharted territory.
Fruit Pirates headed out on an exciting adventure ♥

♥ Day 74 Syrup Balls from Heaven ♥

Day 74 ♥
My oh my today was a corker !
There is one little wholefood store on the Sunshine Coast that has the smallest, the sweetest, the most syrupy of all the Syrup Balls.
And today was the day to visit that store.
I had already had my usual three meals of juice, when we returned home with bags of sweet Syrup Balls
(For those of you who have not been following this Orange Juice Train, Syrup balls are particularly small and sweet Late Season Valencias. Less than half the size of a standard Valencia, they tend to get left behind on the shelf. A kind of Cinderella Orange, deceptively clothed in not the glitziest of skin—but pure sweet beauty beneath the cinders).
So whilst the Syrup Balls are often left 'on the shelf' by those who opt for 'Bigger is Better', this little Orangeophile is one gal who really appreciates them.
So when we arrived home, I couldn't wait to taste their sweetness, and then I did not want to stop my Syrup Ball Feast. And because I juice each one individually with a spoon, the feast lasted a nice amount of time. And I just felt so good and happy and warm afterwards.
Pure Golden Nectar ♥

I am finding that the last week my appetite for Orange juice has increased.
And I think that after a stage of elimination, then there may be a stage of assimilation. So it may be that after doing some deeper elimination, my body now is in more of an assimilation stage, and there is a need for a greater quantity of juice.
I am listening to my body on this mono diet, and the needs it has and I am trying to go with the flow as it were.
That is one reason why I did not finish the mono diet, as I had intended to on day 60.
There was a need to continue.
And now I really am taking it day-to-day.
I could finish tomorrow, or I could not. It is open-ended when it will end ♥

I really appreciate all the lovely positive comments and support I have had here ♥
I am very grateful and wish to thank you all for your companionship during this Orange Juice train ride.
It has been one of the best journeys of my life, and a great deal of fun too ♥

♥ Day 73 Mono Orange Juice ♥

Day 73 ♥
My second longest Orange juice mono diet ended after 52 days.
But I ended it not because I was listening to my own body, but because I was listening to the concerns and considerations of other people.
I accept that those who were concerned for my welfare were only acting out of love and care.
They saw a loss of weight and that was what they focused on.
I had lost a lot of weight (28lbs) but I was stronger and had more endurance and felt as well as I have ever done.
And when I stopped my mono diet, I knew that I had ended my Orange juice diet prematurely because the wonderful fruits that I broke my diet on (my fathers fresh Greengages and then a beautiful Mango) tasted only like ashes in my mouth after my beloved Orange juice.

On another Orange juice diet in 2008, I broke it after 40 days, and the Persimmon that I ate tasted like nectar.
So the big difference was that  the breaking of the 52 Day Orange juice diet, was due not from messages within but without.
And on the 40 Day Orange juice diet, my body was ready to stop.

So the message I am trying to relate is that one skill which is vitally important on any kind of raw unprocessed diet is Listening to Your Own Body.
We are taught the importance of listening to others, and how to be good listeners; but also equally vital is listening to your own body and its very important needs.

I truly believe that on a raw unprocessed diet, where most of the food is eaten totally unaltered and mono, your body will give you very clear signals of its needs and desires.

We have the internal 'ears' to hear our bodily needs but it is not always easy to listen with these ears.
Why is this?
I believe that a big part of it is that most of us have not been raised to listen to our own bodies, and also we have not been raised on a raw unprocessed diet from birth.
We have been told to listen to our parents, listen to our teachers, listen to the 'experts' and nutritionists, and listen to the Television, and listen to the doctors.
But who ever told you "Listen to Your Own Body".
And it is hard on a mixed, cooked, and processed diet to listen to your own body because the instinctive signals from raw unprocessed foods are not there.
There are so many mixes and de-natured foods that how could your body possibly be getting any clear signals as to what food it really needs.

So, I believe, one huge advantage of eating raw mono meals is that your body has a far easier time seeing what works for it personally, and then it also has a far easier time letting you know. The message is not lost in a barrage of other bodily messages from mixed, cooked, or processed foods.

So I am listening to my body regarding the stop point of my diet.
I am trying to listen with my internal 'ears' to my physical, mental and spiritual needs.

On the physical side, I do the same workout every day, so that is a good benchmark for me of how my body is doing physically.
And at the moment I find this workout to still be easier than when I am on a mixed fruit diet.
So this is one indicator, another is my general energy levels and my weight.
I am still losing weight, but I still have not lost much muscle mass. I accept there will be a point where I do not want to go any lower weight wise. And I think that this will most likely be an influence in my decision to end the Orange diet, if the weight loss become an issue and my body tells me it has lost enough weight.
